Professional Life
Wendy Davis is an attorney and former Fort Worth City Council member who has been deeply involved in the civic and business activities of Tarrant County for almost two decades. Wendy is currently the CEO of Republic Title's Fort Worth division. She resigned from the Fort Worth City Council after being elected to her fifth term in office to run for Texas State Senate District 10, which encompasses most of southern Tarrant County and large sections of the cities of Fort Worth and Arlington.
Family Roots
Following Wendy's parents' divorce, her mother raised Wendy, her sister and two brothers by herself. With only a 6th grade education, Wendy's mother went to work at Braum's to support her four children. Because of her family's financial challenges, Wendy began working at age 14 to help her mother support the family. Following high school, Wendy attended Tarrant County Community College while working two jobs and raising a young daughter on her own. As a result of hard work and scholarships, Wendy was able to transfer to Texas Christian University. Four years later Wendy graduated from TCU, first in her class, becoming the first person in her family to graduate from college. With a desire to continue her education, Wendy enrolled at Harvard Law School, where she graduated with honors. Wendy is the proud mother of two daughters, Amber and Dru, whom she raised in Tarrant County. Amber, a graduate of Texas Christian University, recently became the second person in Wendy's family to graduate from college, and Dru is in the process of completing her degree.
Moving our Community Forward
As a member of the Fort Worth City Council, Wendy represented the
downtown area, the medical district, the Texas Christian University area,
as well as many neighborhoods on the city's Near Southside. During her
tenure, Wendy was recognized as a primary leader in the economic
development arena. As the long time chair of the city's Central City
Revitalization and Economic Development Committee, Wendy led
numerous public/private partnerships both in the downtown area and in
the greater Fort Worth community. Through these partnerships, Wendy
sought to create new jobs for Tarrant County residents and to ensure that
all segments of the community would benefit from the new and
redeveloped projects that resulted from those partnerships.

Bringing Change to the State Senate
Throughout her 8-1/2 years on the Fort Worth City Council, Wendy was recognized as a highly intelligent, resourceful, caring representative who was successful in supporting both business growth and improvements to neighborhoods, both of which are vital to the quality of life that the residents of Tarrant County deserve. As part of her work, Wendy worked closely with the state legislature to bring positive change to her constituents. Unfortunately, she has too frequently seen the interests of people in our state are overlooked, taking a back seat to powerful special interest influences in Austin. She has seen that the people of Tarrant County are simply not being represented, as they should be at the State level.
